It has come to my attention that there are several family members of mine who prefer the Original Series of Star Trek over the Next Generation. I completely disagree with their opinions, and here is why:
The Next Generation’s theme song is objectively better.
Data is present within the Next Generation, and Data is awesome and he has a cat.
Kirk, in the Original Series, is annoying.
Picard, in the Next Generation, is a better Captain than Kirk (see above).
Riker, from the Next Generation, is a good character.
Spock, from the Original Series, is ugly.
The intro the Next Generation has better words in it (i.e. “it’s continuing mission” and “where no one has gone before”).
The uniforms from the Next Generation look cooler.
The Original Series flaunts several themes about objectifying women that I disapprove of.
The Next Generation was the series that I would watch with Mom and Dad “late at night” (probably at like 8 or 9PM) when I was small, so of course it has to be better.
As you can see, I have come up with a list of ten perfectly valid reasons, so my argument cannot possibly be debunked. I would like to see anyone try to debunk this perfectly flawless argument.
